Yesterday at work I was presented with a deal I couldn't pass up. A 12" Kicker Solo-Baric L5, a slot ported box from electronic express for the 12, and a Directed 600 d mono amp, all for $150.
I currently have 2 10" Kicker Comp VRs in a slot ported box. I just wonder which would be the better Sub/Amp combination. The 10s or 12 with the 600 d or the 10s or 12 with the GS 2000.
What I bought
12" Kicker Solo Baric L5
copolymer cone
Santoprene rubber surround
dual 2-ohm voice coils for wiring flexibility
extra-long voice coils
frequency response 20-100 Hz
power range 50-600 watts RMS (300 watts per coil)
peak power handling 1200 watts
sensitivity 86.9 dB SPL
top-mount depth 6-5/16"
sealed box volume 0.88-2.0 cubic feet
ported box volume 1.75-3.25 cubic feet
Directed 600d

Class D Mono Amplifier, 1 ohm stable, Top mounted 18dB variable crossover, 24dB subsonic filter & bass eq, remote subwoofer level control supplied, This model can be "synch-bridged" with another 600d to give 1200W RMS!
275W RMS (4 ohm)
400W RMS (2 ohm)
600W RMS (1 ohm)
What I Have
(2) Kicker Comp VR 10"
mica-filled polymineral cone
Santoprene rubber surround
dual 4-ohm voice coils for wiring flexibility
frequency response 25-500 Hz
power range 50-300 watts RMS (150 watts RMS per coil)
peak power handling 600 watts
sensitivity 85.6 dB SPL
top-mount depth 5-1/16"
sealed box volume 0.8-3.0 cubic feet
ported box volume 1.25-1.75 cubic feet
GS Redline GS 2000
2 X 100 Watts RMS into 4 Ohm
2 X 183 Watts RMS into 2 Ohm
2 X 239 Watts RMS into 1 Ohm
1 X 360 Watts RMS into 4 Ohm Mono
1 X 470 Watts RMS into 2 Ohm Mono

the 2 10's and the directed amp would be louder as it has more cone area, but i suggest you try the L5 anyway and see what kind of results you get... you really have 4 potential amp/sub configuration, why not try them all and see what you like best?

The amp alone for $150 is a GREAT deal!!! In regards to the two sub set-ups...test both and see what you like better...or you could prolly sell the Solo for $100.

The box from Electonic Express is around $150
And through crutchfield the L5 is $250.
Granted they are all used, but still in excellent condition.
