type S 6x9
i heard these speakers. they sound good (enough for me)
i compared it in crutchfield to a speaker that fits in our cars.
the only one that fits is the rockford fosgate 4269 (EZ FIT)
then i compared the dimensions (top/bottom mount depth) and the alpine type s and rockford have the same top/bottom mount depth.

does anybody know if it will actually fit with no mods to anything?

i asked crutchfield that answer cause i wanted to go all alpine and this is what they said
I will be happy to help with your question on the Alpine speakers. They don't fit your 2002 Honda Civic because they're too tall. The door panels need to be taken off to access the front speakers and the entire rear deck needs to be removed to access the rear speakers. Although you could actually mount the Alpines after doing so, the speakers would then stick out too far, which would prevent the door panels and rear deck from going back on. Sorry I did not have better news there.

thanks runner.
thanks runner.
Crutchfield is BULLSHIT.
Bought those Type S and fit my rears perfectly. The clearance between the magnet and the torsion bars (those springs on the trunk) barely touches... You've got about 2CM worth of space which is enough and does not touch whatsoever...
Oh yeah, they sounded great even though my rear fill was powered by my alpine HU.

install the speakers yourself, save the money
If the store doesn't have them, odds are damn good that a place like crutchfield or sounddomain will for a respectable price

Component speakers have more than 1 seperate speaker and a crossover network to divide the frequencies between them. Most component sets have 2 speakers, but I believe some have more, possibly 3 or 4...
Regular speakers are of course, just regular speakers. You can get 1, 2, 3 and 4 way maybe even more, but they are just regular speakers and I don't think that the frequencies are at all seperated between hi's, mid's and low's. Component is a good route to take if you are looking for excellent sound quality, but the difference between single speakers and components when running off deck power is negligible...
