Radio Help Needed!
Radio Help Needed!
Ok, I've had a Sony HU in my civic for over 2 years. Suddenly, out of nowhere, the FM radio reception ***** the bed. Nothing. AM radio works, as does the CD Player. Everything else is normal.
I was always a bit skeptical of the no antenna thing. Did something go wrong with the HU or is there a weak link in these antenna systems I should check, for example, a plug perhaps that came undone?
Any advice appreciated.

I completely ****ed up my **** now. The manual says to use a little screwdriver, push a tab on each side and pull it out. Well goddamn it didn't work and I totally mangled the thin metal and screwed up the plastic around my dash. WTF am I doing wrong, the goddamn thing won't come out!!
The DIY is for removing a factory radio. I'm trying to take out a Sony Piece of **** XPLOD.

First Zen, thank you for your replies. Apparently, I'm a ****ing retard. This should be simple. Why do the Sony instructions say nothing about taking the dash apart. It's supposed to pull the hell out and doesn't.

Before you take the time to take the radio out, since you are not sure how to do it, you should check the other two antenna connections.
There are three places where there are antenna connections. One by the back window on the left hand side (as you face the rear) in the upper back window pillar.
The second place is in the c-pillar (aka the kick panel). This is by your feet on the passengers side.
...and the third is ofcouse is behind the radio.
I would check the first two first because they are easy to get to. Just make sure that they are connected properly.

because the sony instructions are for the mounting chassis that the radio sits in, however thats not going to work in our cars because there are screws that go through the side of the radio that hold it to the dashboard panel, and the only way to remove it is by following the DIY and removing that panel.
Update: Well I got it out, but not the way I was supposed to. I just couldn't figure out how to get the dash piece out with the A/C Controls, etc. Somehow I ended up busting it out, I guess it wasn't installed properly the first time.
The connection behind the radio was fine, the one at the rear by the window was fine, I couldn't locate the one by the passenger's feet, though.
Anyway, I put a different radio in and it works fine. I guess the FM receiver blew out on my old radio.
Everything's cool now, I really want to extend my gratitude to you all that helped me out.

I did, or at least, I think I did. All I know is that everything works the way it should and everything appears good from the passenger cabin. The radio seems stable within its confines, even though I didn't use any screws to secure it. What I did was (and I have no idea if this is correct or not) bent a bunch of those tabs on the thin rectangular metal plate. When I slid it in, it seemed to 'lock' in place and brace itself. Hopefully it holds up. Out of curiousity, where exactly is the antenna connection by the passenger's feet? I couldn't locate it.
