I have those EL gauges and I want to hook them up to the + and - wires that the lights for the Air conditioning ***** hook up to; this way i can get them to dim with the rest of the car, not with a seperate ****. Im replacing my HU tomorrow so if anyone could tell me which wires are the +/- for the lights by then i would love you!!!!
I was just looking at my new wiring harness and noticed the two orange wires for Illumination/Dimmer. would they be + and -, decreasing voltage with the rest of the dash, or do they just run +12v/-12v when the lights are on, telling the HU to dim?

If the EL gauges use lights, then you can hook up the positive side to the red/blk wire, negagtive side to the red wire. Hook up the stereos illumination wire to the RED/BLK wire only. If you hook up the stereo to the red wire, it will fry the dash lights.
I have some gauges in my a pillar, and using the red/blk wire and red wire, they dim like the rest of the gauges in the cluster.

not to be a pain in the *** just checking here.
Im going to go off of the stereo wiring harness. There are two orange wires (scosche harness HA08B)
One = "Illumination\Dash Lights"
Two = "Dimmer"
Which is positive for my gauges, which is negative for my gauges?
Like i said sorry to be annoying but with $1000 stereo, and aftermarket guages, screwing up is not an option.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!11111one

Ok well i took out my trusty multi meter and my wiring kit. connected everything up and got it working. the + for the gauges hooked to the "Illumination/Dash Lights" orange wire. The - hooked to the "Dimmer" wire, which is orange with a white stripe through it.
So my gauges turn on and dim with the rest of the lights in the car.
Ill have pics of my DVD player up by tomorrow if i get my kit in already from partsexpress. It'll be here by 3 but i work 5-9:30 so i cant take pics. ill just have enough time to show it off to my friends. tomorrow though. itll be in for tomorrow.

Sorry so late, but I don't know the wiring harnesses exact orientation. But one orange wire will attach to a red/black wire, and the other orange wire will hook to the red wire.
Just be sure to only connect the stereo's illumination wire to the red/black wire ONLY. The stereo will short out the dash if you connect it to the red wire.
Peace
