I am in the process of building a custom speaker box for my 2002 civic LX coupe. I am running (2) 8" Boston Acoustic competitors. The construction is pretty simple and for now i'll load some pics. The measurements are from the factory for the box itself, and the rest I just followed the contors of the trunk behind the seat. You just have to keep trimming the box itself to get it to fit right. I am able to remove my spare tire without any problems which some people may like to know,,,,Its in the pic but if you have questions I will be happy to answer them. Call me crazy, but I used a ton of screws and a whole tube of PL400 deck adhesive to hold it all together. On the back, the speaker terminal broke and when I went to get a new one, they didn't have the same size so I had to add another piece of MDF 3/4 in and drill a new hole, yes thats bondo, don't ask. The next time I post, the box will be finnished, fiberglassed and I have a sweet front panel but I'll save that for later. till next time...............

I had some subs there once. Took them out, and they especially sounded like ish if you put the seats up. IMO, it sounded a whole lot better, and better simulated bass when they facing the other way because of bass being omni-directional. You might like them facing into the cabin, I didn't because of the sq aspect, but that's just me. Also, what's gonna become of the trunk floor, you replacing it with 3/4 or 1/2 mdf as well? Regardless, post pics when it's done, looking alright so far.

that's gonna sound awful.

I built a box and bolted it in and put a hinge so it tilts up.

Works and sounds great, and it wins trophies.

The box and the pill shaped opening are 2 separate pieces, top mesurement is 3 1/2 in and the bottom is 9 in.......I am changing the design on the front and making the opening smaller and sealing it all around to give it a band pass effect even though the box is sealed. I am replacing the front part of the trunk floor with 3/4 inch MDF and thats about all for now. I am not rushing this project,,,,what you see is 2 weeks of planing and I still have about another week or so....... I am fiberglassing the whole box, not the front plate, and painting it..... I have not done that in a while. I don't think it really matters how you mount the box its all in design....................

ya..i got a trophy one time cause i was the only person in the class...spl shows are usually pretty small

i could roll by partners house and show you 1st place Extreme 1-2, 4th place and a 7th place from db drag world finals if you want to see trophys
