help me pick my system!!
I really want more spl than sq and i got only $400 for both the sub and amp, excluding the box. So which system do you think will be the best or if you think of anything else let me know. These are nib ebay prices.
Kicker s15l5 in ported box with a hifonics nx750d with 4 gauge amp kit...$382.95 shipped
Kicker s12l7 in a ported box with a hifonic nx750d with 4 gauge amp kit...........$420.95 shipped
2 15" kicker comp vr's in some type of box with a hifonics nx750d with 4 gauge amp kit...$433.90 shipped
2 12" alpine type r's in some type of box with a hifonics nx750d with 4 gauge amp kit...$443.65 shipped
Please suggest anything else you have in mind.
My main goal is to beat my friend's system, it is two audiobahn subs in a bandpass box in a tahoe. I am not sure which model but they are 400 watts rms a piece. I also want to beat my other friend who has the same subs with a more powerful amp in a sealed box, in a 2 door tahoe. I want to stay away from audiobahn just to make a point, because everyone at my school(high school) thinks audiobahn is the s*** to have and nothing else is good but audiobahn.
Thanks

Two reason kids in H.S are either familiar with Audiobahn or are affectionate towards that brand, and think it's top notch: 1. They put huuuuuge ads in some of the audio magazines with skewed or distorted "facts" included i them. 2. Pimp My Ride loves to use their stuff.
Some other brands, which are less well known, especially to hs kids, that you may want to look towards for subs, especially being on a somewhat restricted budget, are the following:
Image Dynamics: www.imagedynamicsusa.com
Resonant Engineering: www.respl.com
Adire Audio: www.adireaudio.com
Elemental Designs: www.edesignaudio.com
Treo Engineering: www.treoonline.com
Here are some other sites that may save you some money as far as amplification, or various audio needs such as wiring, hu, etc.:
Ike Sound: www.ikesound.com
Sound Domain: www.sounddomain.com
Online Car Stereo: www.onlinecarstereo.com
Woofers Etc.: www.woofersetc.com
The Zeb: www.thezeb.com
I'm sure once you do decide on a woofer(s) that good suggestions for amps could be given here as well. I, personally, am not a fan of Kicker, I don't like them because of bad experiances I've had in the past, especially when contacting them directly. I'm not saying it's bad stuff, I just don't fancy them. When you do choose all of your components for your setup, get a box made, or buy one, that is specific for what your subs call for. Those prefab boxes will work, but they aren't woofer specific, they are just made with general dimensions. And remember, there is no "perfect" or "better" box. Space issues maybe, but there is no superior box. If there were, wouldn't competitors all run the same box?

thanks alot for the other suggestions. I will be making my own box out of 1" mdf. I am very good at woodworking and my dad has plenty of tools, etc. I have heard alot of good stuff about re and no one at hs knows what it is. but if I do get re or Id or something like that, when my system is 10x louder than the people at my school and also sounds 10x better, they will still call my stuff crap just because they hthink it is non name brand and is not as good as their audiobahn. But i don't care, as long as it is good for me and i like it. Also OT, some kid at school told me that if i get 15's they will sound liek **** in a civic and they are made for bigger vehicles, such as suvs and trucks. he says that in a small car like a civic they will not keep up on fast beats and will sound sloppy and have no sq. Is there any truth to this?
after looking through sd and 7thgen and some other forums, i think i have decided to save up a little more and get a ported 15l7. Does anyone have any suggestions on an amp that gives a good, solid 1000 watts rms?
