headlights and cd player lights dim help!
im running 12 inch jl audio w7 with 1000/1 mono amp, capactior and pioneer cd player. My crap dims like no other, the headlights and cd player literally turn off when the bass hits, whats going on? do i need a stronger battery/alternator what shud i do? and also when i turn the air on it dims like no other too. thanks please help meeeeee
Did you upgrade the ground wire. What goes in must go out. The stock ground barely runs the car, much less that amp. Do this first. It has to be done either way.
Then do you have a voltmeter? Does the voltage read 14 volts when the amp is off? If so, the alternator is still working.
Have the battery load tested. It may not be holding enough of a charge.
But for that amp, you should upgrade your battery and get a higher output alternator.

alternator isnt necessary BUT, it would be the best solution.
upgrade your stock grounds first. if you dont know how, buy one of those premade grounding kits.
if that doesnt do any good, bigger and/or second battery
and dont complain it doesnt fit, i just fit a group 65 battery designed for SUV's under my hood, and the modification of the area down there only took all of 20 minutes
if that doesnt suit you, go for a new alternator.

Grounding probably won't help much. If you get a voltmeter, you can see what's going on. Now usually dimming means your alternator can't put enough power, so the battery takes over (12V instead of 14V). Everything should be able to run off the battery. Since you say it's turning off, a new battery would help. Try optima yellow top group 51. I like mine alot.
