will 6x9 fit in front sedan holes???
will 6x9 fit in front sedan holes???
I installed aftermarket 6 1/2" speakers in the front doors of my sedan, but the bass from them sucks. It just rattles. I heard my friends pioneer 6x9 speakers, i think TSA6970R, they sounded great, almost sounds like subs, the highs are also great and every review on them says the bass is excellent. so my question is, can the 6x9 speakers fit in the 6 1/2" hole in the front doors? I had to cut metal back when i installed the 6 1/2" speakers and there is room for the 6x9's but my only concern is the door panel, will it hit?
Not sure why you are sold on those 6x9s. There are plenty of 6.5" speakers that will give you good bass. My JL VR650s sound beautiful.
Are you running the speakers off an amp, or off the HU? And what speakers do you currently have in there?

If you aren't afraid to cut some metal off your door and if the speakers aren't deep enough to hinder your windows, then I guess it's possible.
Btw, what kind of speakers are you running on the front?

Well the speakers i have in now are 6 1/2" sony 3-way's. I knoe sony sucks and all but they were a present. They are running off a pioneer deck. Why im sold on them is because my friend has the exact same deck and the pioneer 6x9's and it almost sounds like a sub. his sound great. I had better bass with stock speakers. These dont even have bass and when bass hits it is all distorted, and no they are not blown.
Things to do:
- Try changing the phase on one of the speakers (switch the positive and negative wires) before you go buy new speakers.
- Get measurements for the 6x9s (on the box your friend's speakers came in? might be somewhere on the internet, too), and get measurements for the door (you'll especially want to know what the measurements are where the grill no longer protrudes from the frame). Make sure the speakers will not be too deep (you've got about 2" between the frame and the window, if it is the same as a 2004 EX sedan), and figure out how far you can space the speakers out (this means knowing how far the panel is from the frame). I suspect you won't be able to space them out very far, if at all, which may be a problem if they are too deep. Make sure you roll the window down when measuring!
- Look into other 6.5" speakers. Pioneer makes 6.5" speakers that are decent.

your buddy with 6x9's has them installed on the rear deck instead of the door...
btw, my stock 6.5" pioneers never produced any bass...they sounded like crap....if you want some bass, try changing your rear speakers or get a sub...

Rear speakers in a sedan are 6.5", not 6x9".
I would suggest just getting the equivalent Pioneer 6.5" speakers... it would be much, much easier. But if you manage to get the 6x9s in your sedan somewhere, let us know.

Re: will 6x9 fit in front sedan holes???
I have a set of 6x9 speakers in my front doors. i did have to do some cutting. But they are in. Id also like to say they are freaking loud. And i mean loud. I had a set of kicker 6.5 before and they sounded ok. But i have 600 watt pioneers 4 ways and the difference is nuts.
