Question Do I need a capacitor?

Hey sup guys, I have a question if I need a power capacitor.
This is what I have:

2 12" 1200 watts sony xplod
2 1200 watts amps sony xplod

any suggestions will be appreciated thanks...

If your lights dim and it bothers you, get one. All they do is help reduce/stop dimming.

Yup, it's just a coverup for the real problem--not enough power to run your amps. You need a bigger alternator to really fix the problem.

What type of alternator would you reccomend ? Will having too big of a alternator damage the electrical system ?

Possibly. Alot of stuff on the car isn't rated above 15-16 volts. So you have to be careful which one you get. One option is rewinding your old alternator to produce more power, but that could be costly. There are threads that talk about different alternator types.

u have a sony it wont work long enough to warrent 1. naa im just kiddin. u might wanna invest in 1 but u dont "NEED" it your car will provied enough power. but if u add another amp id get 1.

Higher power alternators don't put out more volts, they put out more amperage. They won't damage the car unless you get one thats not made for the car and dont fabricate it in correctly.

Replacing the stock battery will also help to remedy the problem. I would not suggest investing in a new alternator till you do a serious system...your amp will probably never exceed 400 watts of RMS power.
