Adehisve mounting pad woes

HELP!!!

My XM Roady Receiver won't stick to my dash. I'm trying to use the adhesive pad that came with it, and attaching it immediately to the left of the lighter socket. IT WON'T STICK. It lasts a day or two, then I find the receiver face down in the cup holder! Before you ask, NO, I may not have followed the cleaning procedure to the letter (my car's already clean after all ). Now, I've tried two different types of adhesive pads and I can't get anything to stick. Any suggestions for proper cleaning or adhesive suggestions? It's not that heavy, but I just can't make it stick!
