Speakers

I checked out crutchfield to see wut speakers would fit best in my car (2003 coupe) and they only gave me one 6x9 to choose from and only like 8 6.5's. Are these the only ones i can use in my car or will any 6x9 and 6.5 fit in the speaker locations?

crutchfield finds speakers that will easily fit in the stock locations.
any 6.5" will fit, but a lot of 6.5" speakers will need a spacer and/or modification to the door for the speakers to fit.
same goes with the 6x9", a lot of them are too deep to fit in our cars because there are trunk springs that get in the way.
search the forums for other 6x9" speakers that fit, i know people have put in speakers that are not found on crutchfields site that work.

i honestly dont know what the max depth is for the 6x9's. when i used to have rear speakers, i had a bracket made that fit the 6x9" opening, and i put a 6.5" in there instead, you'll probably have better luck doing it that way.

IMO the rear 6x9's arent worth your trouble. If you need bass, get a sub. If you need SQ, get some nice 6.5's up front. I got some $20 best buy Pioneers running off deck power in the back and RF HPC2206 6.5's up front that are amped. My Pioneers didnt need any modification, and my RF's needed like a 1" spacer and some minor drilling (really not a big deal) to fit. I think in the end, getting the speakers you want (at least in the case of the fronts), and then eyeballing the install when you get them works fairly well.

does anyone one here have 6.5s in the rear instead of 6x9s? and will most 6.5s fit in the rear with a bracket?

I have 6.5 infinity kappas in the back, and no, the adaptor plate didn't fit, so only two of the screw holes lined up, so deeper bass makes them rattle pretty bad.
