about the FIberGlass DIY
I was wondering how would you calculate airspace etc with these kind of encolsures? It seems as if they just make a enclosure and slap in two subs, without considering how much sealed airspace they need etc.
we often do, really.
you can get a general estimate using sand or styrofoam popcorn. or water. or anything, really, that comes in small pieces that you can pack with reasonably regular density.

if its to be a sealed enclosure you generally have lots of varriance in air space, and pretty much any sub will sound decent on a sealed enclosure even if its a little to big or a little to small
yep. if you arent gonna compete SQ, youve got LTOS of leeway. and even if you are competing SQ, usually its got such a small voice that its not a big issue.
now, if you are looking to get 100% output from the driver, regardless of quality of sound, then your volumes will have to be more closely regulated! but for daily driving or building a stealth system, or a show system, airspaces can "give" a little for aesthetics or function, etc.
