how bassy are infinity kappa 6.5" speakers if installed in the front?

Hi,

I'm looking at Infinity Kappa 62.5i 2 way speakers for my civic coupe doors.

I dont have a subwoofer right now and my rear 6x9's are producing less bass than the stock pioneers. (i'll change them again later)

If someone is using the 62.5i in their civic coupe, can you please tell me if they produce a decent amount of bass? I know i cant expect it to sound like subs but i want more bass in my car w/out having to install a sub.

I already installed MTX 3-ways for the back and although the highs sound a lot better than stock, the MTX speakers dont produce much bass in my car.

btw, one more thing...will i have to cut the sheetmetal door to get the kappas to fit?

You will have to cut sheet metal because the factory cut outs aren't round. The factory speakers are clipped into the door instead of being screwed in. I had to cut to fit my kappas in, but it was damn well worth it.

I am putting some JL Audio VR650 components in my car (2004 Civic EX sedan), and I will not have to cut the metal for the woofers. I need about a 7/8" spacer, though, because otherwise the speaker hits the window behind it. But the hole is just wide enough. It is circular with a big slot at the bottom.

I'm not sure how it is in a coupe (and whatever year you have), nor what your particular speakers will be like, though. The JLs claimed to be 2.44" deep (from the box), and the magnet is supposedly 80mm = 3.15" in diameter.

how much of the metal has to be cut off in order to fit a 6.5" kappa?

When you get the door panels off and take out the stock speakers, you'll see the rectangle slots where the clips went. I took one of the mounting rings from my kappas and put it over the factory hole (shame on infinity for not including a template!) and took a sharpie and outlined what I needed to cut. I used a jigsaw type thing and made two crescent shaped cuts to make the speakers fit. I went through 5 blades and had to use pliers to bend and break off the metal. I've heard airplane grade snips will cut right through so you might want to try those. I also had to drill holes to mount the speakers. Instead of using a spacer, I used the plastic and metal mounting rings together and this provided plenty of clearance for the window.
