Lights Dimming
My car lights dim really bad with my bass, interior exterior, everything. i know that caps do jack **** for dimming, so i am wondering what is the best thing to do to stop this.
- Ground kit
- better battery
- better alternator?
which one of the above will do the most diffrence ??

ummm, a cap would help the dimming. also if you rewire your amp/sub with a smaller gauge wire it should help a little with dimming. Otherwise you could always hook another bettery up, but that is a little more expensive.
The only thing a cap WILL do is reduce your dimming. You could try redoing your grounds, upgrading your battery from oem, or get a cap. Some things like "battcaps" which are large, 10+ farad caps will usually eliminate dimming, but can be pricy. All in all, you will still have some whenever you have a system.

Ground wires won't help the dimming. Better alternator will solve your real problem of not enough juice, and thus stop dimming. Battery might make a difference as well. But if you just want to stop dimming, get a cap.
Actually, replacing your engine grounds does help to slightly reduce the dimming. When I upgraded my battery I got reduced dimming, but it's still there. There's not a whole lot you can do to totally eliminate it, unless you upgrade the alternator, which isnt worth it if your only goal is to stop dimming.
I would suggest going with the capacitor first, if your goal is to completely eliminate dimming. something with a superlow ESR, basic rule of thumb is the bigger in physical size, the better.one farad at the minimum, two farad would be better.
one farad cap with a low ESR should be all you need to completely eliminate dimming. make sure the rest of the charging system is working at least up to standard! (i.e. no 8 gauge power wire running a jbl 1200.1)

i ahve the same problem and i was talking to someone who works at excessive audio by me and he said that the best thing to do was replacing the battery. he explained it all to me and it sounds liekt he way to go. my neons pratically turn off, my dash lights and headlights and tail lights dim so badly that i gotta turn down the subs if a cop cant see it and pull me for it. ive heard of this optima yellow top tho. what do they cost? and what size/model number will fit and what do i ned to get in?
