Eclipse Deck Flashing

I just got an Eclipse 8443 deck, installed it and it works great. However, when I have the head lights on the deck flashes every few seconds, it gets pretty annoying. The problem goes away when I turn the headlights off. Could I have used the wrong illumination wire? Thanks

check the dimmer **** where your gauges are, i have a 8053 and i had the same problem, my dimmer was like 3/4, so i set it to full brightness and it took care of the dimming.

ok. **** is potentiometer on a 12v line. deck's dimmer settings respond to voltage ranges, for example (these arent the exact numbers) 10-15 volts, full bright, 5-10 volts, mid bright, 1-5 volts, low bright. if ya got it on like 3/4, the car's voltage fluctutions from 14.4 volts to 12.5 volts are making the deck think its going from range one to range two.

btw, i just made all this up, but it makes perfect sense

EDIT: except the potentiometer stuff... i know its a potentiometer, i just dont know its functions in this specific application =)
