I know those of you who have read all my previous car audio posts know who I am and what i have had problems with. Well, currently with my JL Audio XR components, the tweeters make a popping/static noise when they are turned up to around 30. The gain isn't that far up, less than half way, and if I turn the gain down to where there isn't any more popping, the music isn't even loud. Seriously, I know they can handle more power. I am running them off an Alpine T-420 by the way. But anyways, today I was fiddling with the gain for the first time. I was parked in the garage with my car on and just listening to the components with my sub off. I noticed that when I was in park, when I turned my speakers up to around 30, there was no popping noise. Even after I turned on the sub and rear speakers, the components sounded great. Originally when I got my amp professionally tuned the day before, Car Toys set the gain up to half way and on the way back (driving), the tweeters really made that noise. Well, I figured that they didn't hear the noise that I was hearing because when they tuned my amplifier, my car was in park as well. So I experimented and went out for a test drive after my tweeters sounded perfect in the garage. About a minute later, the tweeters start to pop/static again. Now, heres the thing. Every since I got my new set of components and my Alpine T-420, I have been having trouble with my stock battery. It kept on dieing, for example, keeping the overhead light on for 15 minutes while working inside my car with the engine off. I went to Autozone and got it tested and the test said that my battery was bad. Could this somehow be connected to my speakers problem? I was thinking that possibly when my car is in idle, like when I was in my garage, my car wasn't using up as much power, so my T-420 and M-300 had enough power to run adequately. But when im driving, with a bad battery that barely even keeps a charge, my amps may not be getting enough power. This is just me just singling out what I think the problem is here. What do you all think?

First things first. Try to get a new battery and see what happens. But it's the alternator that supplies power when the car is running.

Im doing that first thing tomorrow. I know the alternator supplies power when the car is running, that is why im skeptical. It is just that it is kind of weird that the speakers do this right when my battery starts to go dead. With my previous HiFonics Amp running a prior set of XRs, this type of thing never happened. The Last time I used the HiFonics amp was last friday before I replaced it and my screwed up JLs with new ones.
There is a chance a dying battery will have some effect on the speakers.
I remember when I had my audio system turned on for about 1 hour or so, which ended up killing my battery. As the battery died I had the same popping sound come from the speakers and sub.
I bought a new battery from Sears and that solved my problem.
Are you still running a oem Honda battery ?
You might want to get a second battery and devote that battery to your audio system. That way you do not have to worry about killing your primary battery.

I already bought a battery, not an yelllow to since I didn't have the money. Unfortunately, my car went on a little longer without having the tweeters pop while I was driving, but several minutes later it started up again. At this point im clueless and have no idea what to do to get my speakers to stop popping. I could only guess that maybe there was some ambient stuff getting into the RCAs. They are just two channel rockford RCAs.
Could it be the power output of the amp is too much for the speakers ? The chance is small but you might want to double check. Is the gain on the amp too high ? Or it could be the cd you are playing.
At this point I would not rule anything out.
