indash screen canopy...cover thingy
yah so i know i have seen this on here b4, but i couldnt find it anywhere. i am thinking about putting a screen in my center dash piece, where the stereo is, and then relocating the stereo, but i am stuck on how to kill the glare. so i thought about making sort-a like a frame or an overhang off the dash with fiberglass, i think that derek has this done on his car but i may be wrong......i have seen this on someones car b4........any help on how to build it? I was thinking about going and getting some thin plastic sheet cut it to the shae and then fiberglass ontop of it and around ti to get the shape i want then paint.
if not will tinting my front window kill some of that glare (i know it is illegal), but ohh well it aint illegal if you dont get caught!!!!!!

i'm working on this mod as well. the glare is something i dont worry about to much, since im in NW ohio and its uaully cloudy and raning here
. as far as installing the screen there are several ways of doing it. the easiest way i can think of is mount the screen from the reverse side, this will take some fabrication work, so you may want to find some light weight alumnium. once its attached, fill the gaps with bondo. i know this sounds cheap, but its the best way to make the screen look stock. once all the seams are bondo'd and sanded down spray the whole piece with high quality black paint. the only hard parts of this project are keeping the screen straight when mounting it and making sure you dont spay the screen or buttons. i havent started on mine yet, im still looking for a good quality touch screen to hook up to a computer that im also cramming back there. but once i start ill make a how-to and post it. if you have any questions before then pm me.

i dont think dereks has a canopy or overhang, but rather, i think its recessed into the dash, and that it doesnt follow the curve and angle of the dash.

go to derek's member's ride page. Its on there. He used, if I'm not mistaken, a 10 inch screen, and relocated the A/C controls as well. And its recessed, and it mounted vertically square, meaning it does not follow the dash line, rather its level and square along its vertical axis.
