Subs with stock deck ?
Hey I sold my amp and old wiring to this high school kid and told him I'd install it for him if he got me a case of beer. Thing is that this guy just got a 96 mustang V6 I think and he isn't going to upgrade the stock HU or the stock speakers. He just wants the amp and subs hooked up to the stock deck and I've never installed anything off of a stock deck before.

What problems should I expect to run into?
Where should I get the remote wire from?
If the stock deck doesn't have RCA outputs how do I get the signal to the amps?
Any helpful advice is appreciated :-)

if the stock deck doesn't come with rcas, you would have to purchase a inline converter box in order to hook the rca cables to. also for the remote wire you can tap into the radio fuse in the fuse box.some problems you might face. the subs might not sound as clean as if you would hook the subs up from an aftermarket radio. and you might get some background noise.
Expect BIG problems. Depending on the factory setup (Standard, premium, or Mach 460) there may be seperate amplifiers that run the tweeters, and amps behind the seat that control the midbass in the doors. Check 1. behind the factory radio for the amp 2. Under the rear deck 3. behind the seat. If you want to maintain the factory head, you'll need to access the signal leads off the head unit (black 8-pin connector?) and the speaker level leads into the vehicle (anther 8-pin connector, flat). That is best case. You may need a Metra part no 99-5514 to bypass the factory amp. That vehicle has appx 6 possible systems, so do some research first!
I reccommend using the speaker level outputs from the factory amp, the converter (flat 8 pin connector) just doesnt really produce enough voltage. an LOC works much better to get a decent amount of voltage to the amplifiers.
As to an unclean sound, it can totally be done well, retaining great sound. I've built SQ cars keeping the stock radio (we didnt want to lose the 6 disc in dash changer). It's not a fact that the stock radio means terrible sound! It's just a myth propagated by poor installers.
listen to massmayhem, hes got some good tips. if the rear amp isnt under the rear deck, its behind the drivers side trunksidepanel, most likely. or you could just grab it from the rear 5x7's themselves.
Since you are just adding a subwoofer, theres no need to remove the radio at all! you can tap the rear 5x7 for signal to the LOC, then tap into the ciggarette lighter for remote. done!
