I usually say a farad for every 1kw. That's my general rule of thumb. I'm just curious though, have you done the big three yet? Battery, wiring, and alternator? I'd say to go for those first, especially the battery. Our stock batteries are ish.

I have some dumb questions how do you know when you need a cap? When you are talking amps are you talking about the RMS? I guess that last would be should I get a battery first and then see?
