HELP !! Radio install...now nothing works !!

I tried to install a kenwood CD deck in my friends 2002 EX coupe and I unplugged the OEM radio. The OEM radio is connected to the radio harness. The radio harness is connected a little further by another connector/harness. I unplugged this connector because I wanted more play to move around with the radio harness. And now once I got all the radio harness wired to the Kenwood CD deck, I replug this connector back in it's place. Turn the key and nothing works ?!?! I tested the radio directly on the battery and it works no problem. And on top of that his remote keyless entry does not open his doors anymore ?!?! And his 4 ways used to flash when you unlock the doors with the remote and know there is nothing. Looks like no more power is going to the radio harness, thats why the radio does not power up. I guess it's because I unplugged the radio harness a bit further in that other connector/harness. Does anyone know what that connector/harness does ? Why don't I have power anymore to the radio and the remote keyless won't work....

Should I try resetting his ECU ? Will that work??....seems like the power going into the connector/harness I unplugged does not pass anymore....to go thru to the radio harness...

Thanks guys

You probally blew a fuse or two.

Resetting the ecu will do nothing for you, the ecu has nothing to do with powerlocks or exterior lighting.

Just talked to my friend and he says that his power door locks work from the inside with the manual button ( not the remote) but only when the car in on....as soon as he shuts off the car the power doors locks won't even work manually from the inside.....

Checked all fuses...none are blown...all good....

Same thing for the dome light.....when you set it to open only when a door is open,
it works fine if the car is running, as soon as the car is off, the dome light does not work when we open a door....???WTF ????

Just plugged back the OEM radio and it does not work....no power goes to it.....

What can I do ???

Are you sure you connected the wires properly and no exposed wires are crossing ? The hu is well grounded ? The battery for the remote is good, sounds stupid but the battery could have died right now.

You should check your wiring work, i am not sure if I read ur first post properly but did you use a wiring harness ? If so check the wiring to be sure it is all correct.

I am still betting it is the fuses, check the fuse box under the hood again, do you have a test light ? if you do you should test all the fuses with the light to be 100% sure.

OK thanks....no i have not checked that backup fuse but I certainly will.....

There is no wiring to be done, or that I have not connected properly..the radio harness plugs into big connector that goes into the main wires relay.....it is that connector I took out and put back in...and now no power goes to the radio harness and the doors are fuged up and all that shiat I said up there in the other replies.....

Keep answering me guys....I'll eventually find the problem....

Thanks a bunch !!

mm, happened to me, blew that exact fuse. You shorted somethign while installing the HU, a stray wire, your screwdriver, a lot of things. Just remember to unplug the batter before doing any work next time and you'll be alright.

"auto84, this problem happened to you before ? The doors would not lock unless the car was running ?? What caused that to happen in your case ?"

yes, it has happened to me before, i was once ignorant and lazy and i just yanked my old head unit out and put in the new one, didnt disconnect the battery terminal either, and i blew the fuse, and the doors wouldnt lock if the car wasnt running and the head unit didnt work, so it took me almost a week to figure it out. Now i am that much wiser (I hope). i also blew it once when i was trying to show up a buddy of mine with my DD 3512 and crossfire 1000d. it was loud as crap for like 2 seconds then it cut out and the head unit wouldnt work and the doors wouldnt lock, So when i got out so i knew immediately what it was. It turns out that the remote wire for the amp was overdrawing and the amp for the head unit was drawing from it too, that was more than 10 amps so poof there it went. Enough rambling, good luck man, tell us what happens.
