You CAN still use an amp with the stock deck, provided the amp has speaker level inputs.

The remote wire is a power wire that goes from the stock wire harness behind the deck to the amp. It turns the amp on only when the car is on.

if you bought a gauge kit it would already have a remote wire. it connects from the amp to the head unit. i think its a blue and white wire thats connected to the head unit that you need to tap into. just connect them up and thats it. it will power up your amp when you turn on your head unit. i made the same mistake when hooking up my first system. its hella easy to fix.

With a stock HU there are no remote lines or RCA outs.

You need to run the remote wire to your ignition wire, or your cig lighter + wire.

You can use a line output converter to make RCA jacks, or if your amp has speaker level inputs you can use those.

thanks guys... i did some more research on it... its what tells the amp when to turn off...

you can wire it to anything thats only powered when the car is "acc" or "on"

like the power outlet/cigarette lighter

also...
this is what i did... i spliced the rear 6x9 spearker wires to my high-input adapter that came with the amp... and just ran it like that.
