Head Unit With Little Compartment?

I am sure you are all aware of you dash. You know the stock head unit and htat little thing under it that can hold papers. Have any of you taken all of that out and put the head unit where that little compartment goes? how did you do it? are there kits out there? i need help?

Apparently Metra finally unveiled a double din kit for our cars, but its not availible yet and would be the only "kit" that would let you do something like that.. i didn't need no kit though lol

just take out any install kit you have in and take a look at the factory metal cage that surrounds it, you'll see holes for where you can secure any unit in with screws. there are holes at the top and bottom so I just stacked them and fastened each one in with screws. My EQ is on top and has the half sized metra kit for our cars but you don't need it, just makes it look more clean. The EQ is a Pioneer 7600 and my HU is the Pioneer 8400, good luck.
