rear 6 x 9

alright already searched but im finding very little and its giving me a headache reading all of them. im looking to replace my rear 6 x 9 speakers in my 02 coupe. went to crutchfield and they show that the only 6 x 9 that will fit is the Rockford Fossgate FRC4269. i want the pioneer ts-a6070r but i guess they dont fit. so can u guys give me a list of what you have that fits? also which speakers u reccomend? thanks

JL audio, Soundstream, Infity, or Boston Acoustic. one or all of those companies should have a 6x9 for the civic, don't quote me on it.

I got these Pioneers for the back

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...d=&newdeptid=9

They're 3ways and quality in the mid high range is improved. the bass is a bit nicer but i cant say they outperform the stock speakers. it sounds crummy at higher volumes quicker than stock but with a sub it should be a problem. I got these because i blew my rears with a pioneer mp3 deck. Most 6x9s dont fit i suggest measuring.

When I checked Crutchfield, I got the following speakers which will fit without modification:

Infinity Kappa 692.5i $199
JBL GTO936 $149
Kicker 02K69 $149
Rockford Fosgate FRC4269 $119

On the rear 6x9's, you have 3- 7/16" depth, and the top mounting height is 7/16". As long as you stay within those measurements, you won't have a problem with the trunk spring bar or the rear deck hitting the tweeters. I've seen people on this forum that had speakers within these specs and still had trouble touching the springs though. You should probably allow a few 16ths of an inch for clearance, or remove the springs. The trunk won't stay up by itself without them and you might want to do the trunk shock install that Grey did a DIY on.

If you wanna go with the Infinitys, try Ikesound.com. They have them for $98.10 plus shipping..a killer deal.

If you're going to use a subwoofer with them, you probably don't really need to use 6x9s back there and could use 6.5's instead with an adapter plate. Unless you really want the midbass from them, I'd go with 6.5s. I made a custom plate myself out of an old computer side panel and they sound great because I already have a sub and the front speakers are on a crossover, so that they play only midrange and treble frequencies.

Here's a pic of the speaker plate I made in case you want to try making one.
Just trace the outer edge from the stock speaker onto a metal sheet.
Mark the bolt holes and drill them out.
Measure the basket of the new speaker and cut it out of the center.
Mark the screw holes that will hold on the new speaker to the plate.
Cut out the whole plate.
Deburr the edges with a grinder or file.
Paint if you want, then mount the new speaker and repeat for the second one.

If you want to do components, you can mount the tweeter on either side of the 6.5. All you need is a dremel, drill and some metal.

Personally, I'd go witht he 6x9 Alpine Type-S speakers... Fits perfectly with no mods and they sound awesome. Lots of other great rear speakers also... Just go to a shop and listen to them and just be sure to check the clearance, etc...
