Alpine SBR-122CR?
I found this combo deal, where I get a 12" Alpine Type-R sub and an enclosure for 209 shipped here. Has anyone heard anything about this product. There's basically no info online. I was hoping someone has heard this unit and could tell me if it's any good. Initially, I was gonna get an Infinity Basslink but I've heard the bass reproduction for rap music is pretty shitty.
Also, any good amp recommendations? I don't wanna spend too much money. Thanks guys.

Hmmm waste of money. You could find the same subwoofer on E-bay for a lot cheaper, plus you can build your own box for a fraction of the cost, tune it to the frequency you want, and be totally custom.
Some good amps are
JL Audio 1000/1
JL Audio 500/1
Rockford Fosgate (all series)
MTX Thunder 801D
and believe it or not but Lightning Audio's amplifiers are pretty efficient.. My friend has a 600x1 @ 2ohms and I tested it and with 4.325 volts into the amp, with the engine running at 14.4 volts, the amplifier put out 580 watts. Not too shabby. It definitely changed the way I looked on Lightning Audio. *shrug*

um...i have that unit...209 is a sick price...something's up with that...
but that unit...take my word...F*CKING WHOOPS... for that price, get it asap...if you don't like it, return it and flame me for all i care...i LOVE the way it sounds...
and it's not a waste of money thank you...alpine spends 10's of thousands of $$ R&Ding their boxes...they design their own enclosures for a reason you know! Its not like they just put a few pieces of wood together, and cut a hole for the vent. If you look at it, the inside isn't just wood and carpet, there is a special coating that acts like the "fatmat" stuff. It makes ALL the difference, compared to some shitty box that you get at circuit city or whatever.
I'll say it again, take my word for it...if you're not as satisfied as i was, flame me! ^_^
and those amps mentioned above are all awesome too! ^_^
but for that sub, all you need is that old 300 watt alpine amp (700 max)

that baby right there...underrated amp man...class D 700 watt max, just the right power for that amp. VERY VERY affordable, and if u run this setup, u'll have no regrets

onlinecarstereo is a very reputable site, so dont worry about the price bein low or anything. the type R is a decent woofer as well, so thats not all that bad of a deal, especially if yorue not a big box building type

mainly, I just want a little more thump. not something that can be heard 3 blocks away, but some nice clean, deep bass. I know I don't need 2 12's or anything like that. so I think this will work out just fine. now, it's a matter of deciding whether or not I can afford it. cause if I get a sub and an amp, I'll need to get an alarm.
