Rear deck
I've seen the DIY on removing the rear deck. I did it when i put my system in. One of my 6x9's blew and i need to take it out. I was talking to one of my friends who just tinted his 2001 civic and he told me the guys just took it off without talking the whole back out. I don't want to damage anything, so i was wondering if anyone can shed some light. There has got to be an easier way then taking the back end of the car out just to get to the 6x9's. Think about it. If there is a problem with your OEM system after warranty, the is no way honda can justify charging 2hrs (taking out/putting in) labour to change it. Anyways, I know it can be done................has anyone done it?

I know that. The dealership is fckd.
I just think it is stupid that you have to unbolt the whole rear of the car just to get at the speakers.
U even have to take off the mounting for the seat belts in the front.
3 bolts.........i don't knoe where you got that figure from.
Also if you can do it 15-20mins, that's great, it took me at least 2hrs.(in/out)
Just seems like alot to do for something so simple.
I'll find a way

Well it depends if you have a coupe or a sedan. The coupe is a much bigger pain in the *** then the sedan because you have the take out the whole rear seat along with the front seatbelt rails and rear side panels. If your careful you can just do the rear seat and pop the side panels out some so the rear deck can be removed, that way you dont have to take everything apart.
A lot of places take shortcuts on removing the rear decks in our cars. They force it and take it out and it can warp the deck and make it hard to put it back in place correctly. To take it out properly you must do it the hard way. And that is what any dealership would do. Places that do tint though and some audio places *cough* best buy *cough* will try to shortcut it, I know they did in my car and I've been paying for it since with rattles and stuff caused by clips that broke or didn't get in correctly because the deck didn't get put back in properly. Oh well....
i think it'll be way much faster w/ a friend (maybe w/ the friend who told u his way of doing it). also, if ur not in a rush, i suggest to wait, and see if u need to do other stuff before u go thru the whole process more than what's necessary. for me, i'm waiting for some fatmat and some soundproof matting to install on the same day, rather than separately, but the fatmat is taking a while, and my rear deck rattles like crazy. but, patience is virtue
Once you take it apart the first time, subsequent removal is much quicker. If you have a coupe I wouldn't try to shortcut it because of the rattling issues you may end up with (as dups mentioned). I'm taking mine apart (partially) tomorrow to kill a bass rattle in the passenger rear panel.

for the rattle, inside the trunk, there's a gap right under the brake light. i just stuffed some styrofoam and it helped a lot (temporary tho)
