Question sound problem question

My friend has a Mustang with a stock player and when he turns the volume up a lot, a little after it gets half way up, it starts fading. The volume will go up and then back down and it won't stay constant. it doesn't go out or crackle it just wavers. Any ideas on the problem? it is all stock so I don't think it would be a problem with the ground.......

Maybe a problem with the stock head unit's power supply?

Could be a protection circuit to keep him from blowing the speakers. Or if he has a "mach" system, there could be a problem with the amplifier.

i would think that the whole system does not have enough power going to it so it has the wavering you are talking about. how's the connection to the battery? or it could just be time for a new head and amp....
