Installing an EQ with my HU
I'm looking to get an in-dash Pioneer EQ (DEQ-9200 or DEQ-7600) to go with my Pioneer 840 MP3 player and have a few questions:
1. I heard that these Pioneer EQ's are good but have low volt RCA preouts (.5v - 1.5v) which leads to even more static, but my MP3 player has (4v) ones, so can I just leave my amps hooked up to my HU instead and just run the EQ RCA's to it like that? How does that actually work?
2. I'd like to make it so that the EQ will regconize the CD and go to a certain custom EQ for it, do EQ's have this kind of technology or do I have to switch EQ's by remote?
3. Do I just put all my HU EQ settings on flat or 0dB and turn off its HPF and LPF, etc..?
Help would be appreciated and I'd like your opinion on which one to get as well. Thanks guys.

To hook it up, you would leave all HU settings on flat, then run RCA's from your HU preout to the EQ input, then RCA's from the EQ output to your amp. As far as output voltage, thats what your gain control is for.
Preset EQ levels and such are available on some digital EQ's...I don't really know much about the Pioneer lines, so I cant help you on wether or not they have that feature.

Thanks, I'm thinking about getting the DEQ-7600 or Kenwoods KGC-9044 now, the 9200 just didn't have a good enough S/N ratio to take a chance on. The main difference between the two now is that Kenwood does have 3 4v preouts, but a little less of a S/N ratio (-3dB) and is only 11 band compared to a pretty good S/N ratio (91dB) and 15 bands. In the end I would only get the Kenwood because of the preouts, but what do you guys think? I can get both these guys for the same price too.
