It's possible to get remote start just by itself without an alarm. But more importantly... what is cheap to you? A few hundy? I don't know about any other alarms that will remote start a car other than Clifford alarms. Some of the alarms are decently cheap ($200-$300) but the labor from the install is what gets ya the most.

Wow, thats a great price for an alarm with all those capabilities. I paid $300 for mine and that's just under cost.

Mine has a few more features though. The new AG5 came out so I'm sure that the AG4's will go on sale to make way for the AG5. Might want to check that out.

It's been my experience that alarms won't stop someone who really wants to steal your stuff. But I believe they are deterrents to the average thief, and a bother to thiefs that are persistant.

So would you then say that one of these would also be at least sufficient?
PRESTIGE APS995C - $149.00
Prestige APS996 - $145.00

Or any of the others on this page/website?

Thanks again for any advice/opinion anyone can give...

There is no alarm out there than will 100% keep a thief from stealing/breaking in your car. The alarm does attract attention to your car though. Say if you heard a car alarm going off at the mall parking lot, you wouldn't run to and see if someone is trying to break into it. Most likely you would look to see where that annoying noise is coming from. You can tell when someone is trying to break into another car so if you look and see it happening then you could react to the situation.

That's the reason I got my alarm. I wanted my car to attract attention to itself if someone is trying to break into it. I also got it for the convenience features as well. Clifford will also pay for my insurance if my car ever gets stolen now that I have a Clifford alarm installed.

That's most of the reason I want one... the convenience features. I know an alarm won't stop them from stealing... like I said, it's more of a 'deterrent.' That's why I can't see paying some shop $400-500 to install the latest Clifford (which is what I originally wanted) if people are telling me that these other, WAY cheaper alarms will do the exact same thing.

Please don't think I'm slamming anyone, or trying to disprespect your decision. I'm just reconsidering my original plan and maybe thinking that the economy alarm may be the way to go, now. I figured with the thousands of 7thgen users out there, somebody would have experience and knowledge to help me decide.

Thanks!

Thoes are nice links Thanks! I used to have a Matrix RS3 and that went away when I traded in my car. Was kind of nice having an alarm that told you if it was locked or not in case you forget. I think i'll get another one with a pager.

Haha, that's the best Home alarm you can buy...

I don't know how warm that dog is going to make your car on those cold mornings, but I would bet that the dog ch!t on your seats wouldn't be worth it!

hahaha, I'll have to keep that in mind.

I've often wondered, if I heard my car alarm going off, if I'd even have the ***** to run out to the phucker with a bat or a gun and try to keep him there. A lot of people have died trying that ****...

You gotta figure... you might get lucky and have some scared high shool kid in there... or then again, you might have some career criminal out after his second strike... and he knows he'll be going to jail if he shoots you or stays in the car, so he may as well shoot...

I got the Viper 690XV with responder technology. I paid around $400 but haven't had it installed yet. i had to get the responder because my friend next door just got his 20" rims stolen off of his truck right in front of his house.
