I want to put a set of tweeters in my sedan.
I don't have an amp, but I have an Alpine HU.
I'd like to put the tweeters where they are in the coupe.
Do the wires exist, or will I have to run new ones from the HU? Can I splice into existing speaker wires?

Splicing tweeters into the existing speaker wire with the stock coaxials would frankly sound like ****..... the tweeters would be recieving the full range and there would be cancelation in the high range.
If you want your car to sound better just go ahead and get an amp and some components. What to get is a matter of your own choice as everyone has music different musical tastes.
I'd recommend going to shops and listening to stuff (or car shows.... not those ghetto ones tho :P). I'd also recommend installing it all yourself.... It's not as hard as you might think with a lil research and a lotta patience and that way you know that everything is done correctly when you're done (hella fun too).
But uh yeah.... that's what I'd suggest. Oh and by the way www.hparts.com has those tweeter pods, but I'm not sure if they have ones for the sedan. I'm sure someone else can help with that if they don't.

on a sedan there are no wires running to the mirrors and no tweeter pods available as far as i know (and no, the coupe ones won't fit).
to get an improved sound with tweeters, i would recommend investing in the whole component set. the set will include a new speaker for your door, the tweeter, as well as a crossover which ensure each speaker only plays what it is designed to play. like cyko said, an amp is almost neccesary. without adding an amplifier, i would reccomend speakers with low power ratings. actually the alpine type r components might be a good choice if you like the sound of them. an amp will make them louder and clearer, but off of the aftermarket deck w/out amp, those would be my choice.

I think I'm going to get the component set....Can I run wires to the mirrors? I can cut holes in the triangular piece and mount them there.
What about the sub/amp? If I get one of those (crappy, I know) self-amped Bazooka tubes, would it drown everything out?

you know you can get a crossover by itself right? that would eliminate the need to buy a component set, if you already have a good door speaker. they are around $10 and can be found at a lot of places around the internet. then all you do is run the wires from the hu/amp to the inputs and your outputs to your speakers. that is just for financial sake though.

you can run wires to the mirrors, but you better make sure the tweeter will fit. even people with coupes often have to do some (mild) custom work to get various tweeters to fit.
in my sedan i put the tweeters in the door (same as picture) and it sounds great. but definitely not easy to undo. you might want to try surface mounting them in the pods. then you would drill a hole through the pod and mount the tweeter on the outside of the pod itself. that way you only need to buy new pods if you remove the system ever (and these are only about $15 a pair, if that).
i really doubt a bazooka tube could drown out much of anything either.

try to find dimensions for the tweeters and see if they will fit in the panel easily. this would be flush mounting and it could be done with some combination of a hole saw/dremel/cutting tool. otherwise yuo would have to mount them on the outside, and this could look kinda retarded. do a search for "sedan tweeter" and you will be able to see a lot of discussion about all the common issues.
btw, this whole time the discussion of running wires to the mirrors has been brushed off, but i assure you this is not a fun task. in fact, that was probably the toughest thing in my component install (took the most time).
if you buy a set of component speakers, they will come with crossovers designed to work for those speakers already. again, search for "component wiring" and you should see a lot of the questions you probably have about what to do with these crossovers answered.
whats a basic budget you have for this project? any particular speakers you've been looking at?

Why do you say running wires up to the mirror area is hard? You just have to put new wire through the grommet in the door....it's very easy to get through if you just tape the wire to a straightened coat hanger and shove it through...silicone spray lube or some soap makes everything slide real easy. Shouldent take more than 10 min per door to totally re-wire it with new wires.

I recently added some Infinity reference tweets in the door triangles where the coupe ones would be. I have the four 6.5 speakers running off an amp, and the tweeters wired to the deck. My 6.5 speakers have adjustable tweeter sections, so I just pointed them down so the highs aren't too loud. It sounds and looks great!! I don't have pics now, but it took me a good amount of time to do. Maybe 5-6 hours, but I'm slow with running wires and I did my 4-channel too. It's not hard, though and the tweeters came with a small crossover that you can stuff in the door somewhere.
You could always just buy the OEM tweeter kit for coupes and put it in your sedan...they can be flush mounted into the doors since there is a small lip on the outside of the tweet housing. It comes with a "bass-blocker" wired inline with it, so no crossover is needed. You could splice the midrange speaker wire and it shoudlent cause a problem. I think there is actually a "tweeter kit" for the sedans that you can buy from Honda.

I had to drill two holes for the mount. It's a surface mount, but the Infinities only stick out an inch or so. It looks good, and I'll try to get some pics posted. It's easier, and cheaper, to buy the sails rather than a door panel if you decide to take them out later.

i've never seen the kit you speak of. doesn't mean it's not there.
it would depend on the tweeters i guess for how the surface mount would look. the kit for mine would have made them look really dumb, IMO, because the tweeters are almost 1.75" wide.
and the mirror just was annoying because it took a few tries and a few cut knuckles. if you've never done it , it could be intimidating

Man that's looks crisp, loving it. I dunno were I'm mounting mine it'll be done on Tues
There is a sail panel for the sedan designed to fit a tweeter.
Someone on this site had it and posted pics of it along time ago.
The owner said he got it from a company in Asia (Taiwan or Hong Kong). Other sedan owners including me were trying to get the guy to get some for us but he seemed to have faded and disappeared.
