been crossover shopping...
so i was browsing ebay for audiocontrol products and ran into this gem...
crossover linky
i was hooked after the free shipping with buy it now line.
but seriously i wanted a reccomendation of a good crossover. any good companies besides audio control with an active crossover (just want to see competion)? also i read about the ESP being good for speakers located on the floor, how it raises the soundstage, is this really worth the money?
and what are some good things to shop for? higher crossover slope and more channels are the only things i see seperating many of the units, that and center channel processing (not doing video, so irrelevant). thanks for all the tips

i'm thinking of redoing my front speakers, keeping the tweeters i have and maybe replacing the midbass. it looks like one of these might simplify my wiring too... thats another question i have though, i currently use a 2 channel amp hooked up to the crossover. it looks like these crossovers take the RCA inputs and then filter the frequencies. is it possible for me to use the same 2 channel amp and use lets say the 4xs without any other crossover? or would i need a 4 channel amp to do that?

see the 2 4 channel amps i have are either way too much power (kicker 800.4 combined with 5V outputs) or just crappy (jensen 600W pos that is still ticking).
kind of a different question, but could swapping the midbass speaker for another one with the same impedence really make it sound much worse (assuming the new speaker would normally be crossed at the same point as the old speaker)?

thers no such thing as too much power, you can gain down on the amplfers and be just fine.
im runnign "350 rms" to each of my midranges, and they are still kicking strong, youd be set for active filtering.
but realistically, crossover design isnt that tough, you could easily build yrouself a set, solen is a good source for quality components as is mouser. then youd only need the front channels fo the amplfiier, save a set for other drivers
audiocontrol makes a bitchin active processor, however, no doubt about it, ive been happy with my 6xs fully, and you cant beat the 5 year warrantee with a stick.
i have speakers on my floor and my stage is plenty high, if you are doing yrou won kickpanels you have no need to raise the stage with processing, and qforms have already got fine staging....
