JL's or Boston Acoustics ?
Hey what's s'up this is not for my civic but for my other ride, just want to get an idea on which subs you would get. Either JL's 8w3 v2 or Boston Acoustics Pro-Series 8.5LF
Never heard the Boston's, so I couldent tell you. Go to a shop and listen to both and decide that way. What I like you may not, so asking others whats "good" really isnt gonna help you.

JL's all the way. I have 2 10W3's in my car and I had 2 12W6's in my previous car. My friend has a Boston Pro 12 in his car and it sounds ok. Boston's are good for music where there is a lot of bass drum. It will hit the bass note tightly but that's about it. If you're into rap/hiphop then I would say JL's.

I've never heard any Bostons, but I have a JL 8w3, the originals and it sounds really nice, for an 8" sub. It doesn't hit nearly as low as my Shiva, but in a tiny ported enclosure, it's not bad.
Seriously, go and listen to anything and everything you can find. I was going the same route you were until I heard some of the different products from Diamond. I'd never heard of them until I was in the store. I ended up doing my whole car in it and couldn't be happier.
