6.5" Spkr Spacers?????

Hey everyone, just about done planning for the rest of my system. Before I ask my question, I am now going to get a Kenwood KAC-849 multi-channel amplifier w/ front JL Audio XR625CSi component set. Soon after, I will add new Boston Acoustics FX93 3-way 6X9. Anyway, everyone tells me that I need spacers for my 6.5" speakers. I really don't know what they are though and if someone could explain what their purpose is, then id appreciate it. What type of spacers would I ask my local Tweeters or Cartoys for? Thanks for you all's help!

The holes that the speaker would fit in in our cars are tiny.....
In order for speakers to fit you need some clearance. Probably
1/2 to 3/4 of an inch will do nicely. That way the smaller portion
of the speaker will fit in the hole without you hacking you door
apart. MDF (medium density fiberboard) makes a nice spacer, but
if you buy them retail it'll most likely be made of plastic. All speakers
are a little different so you may need a custom made spacer. Making
a spacer yerself isn't too hard if you have a jigsaw tho. You just make
an outline of the mounting ring that comes with yer speaker on some
MDF and they cut out the shape and voila. Couldn't be easier... well
maybe it could but so what? Ok.... done.

does anyone have some pictures? Sorry, but I am still really confused. Wouldn't the holes be the same size for the new JL speakers since both the OEM and JLs are 6.5" or am I thinking of something else?

Peno is on a distinguished road
Go here: http://www.7thgencivic.com/diy/speaker_install.cfm
and look at the pictures at the bottom. Here is a picture of one brand of spacer: http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/SCOSAH6
I bought these but had to modify them for my oversized 6.5" speakers. They should fit yours fine. I got them at crutchfield.com for $8.00

So this pretty much goes between the new speaker and the door I am guessing. Do you just screw the speaker into the spacer? And how does it get connected to the door frame, by screws? If I bought the ones off crutchfield, what will I have to do to modify them so that they fit my JL Audio XR625 Component Set?

It would be easier to just go to local car audio shop and get them to build one using MDF. I bought SCOSAH6 and it's way too small for XR650. Don't make mistake like I did. I think you need 1 inch spacer for this speaker....
