AMP install problem

My friend and I installed his Amp into his 1g Eclipse, which was incredibly easy to do I might add. Well the first time we tried to turn it on we used a CD... and it didnt work.. and we were like WTF? There is no power light on the Amp, the second he switched it from CD to radio the bass kicked in LOUD and his subs were bouncin all over the place ( as they should). Then we switched it back to CD, and the power on the Amp cut out. Now, I figure its a problem with the head unit.. could there be a different problem? And we have searched for configuration ALL throughout the head unit and we cant find jack ****, and he doesnt have the box or instructions for the head unit either.

On the back of the head unit make sure you use the wire that is blue with a white stripe to turn the amp on. If you use the solid blue that is the power ant. lead and will only power up if the radio is on. The blue/white stripe powers up whenever the unit is on regardless of the source you are using. Hope this helps.

How did you hook the head unit sound to the amp did you use rca's or speaker wire?? One reason why the amp turned on with the radio on is though speaker wire amp hook up that turns on the amp. But the cd singal won't turn on amp though speaker wire. Thisis one reason y amp was turning on with radio on not when cd was on.. num two guy posted above me is right check the lead turn on wire from the head unit to the amp....

check the internal options of the cd player. i know a friend who had two different settings. one for radio and one for cd. make sure you have the sub out turned "on" in one of the menus. i bet that's what it is. is this deck a pioneer?

its definitely the power antenna lead swapped for the remote turn on. classic mistake, easily fixable. JJF hit it right on the nose.
