2002 4dr LX front speakers

I'm curious...

If I drop in a pair of front speakers with mounting depth of 2.5"... they wont' fit right?
If they don't... and I use a spacer... will the door panel go on properly after or will I have to modify?

I have the exact same car. And you're right, just dropping them in won't work. I made a couple of mounting rings out of MDF, both are 1inch deep, and the speakers went in with enough clearance for the window, and the panels went back on perfectly. The only thing is, you'll have to do some drilling to mount the new speakers and rings. Oh yeah, and to line up the rings correctly, before you take out the old speakers, go around them with a felt marker. This will give you a centering area, so you can make sure you put the rings on in the right place so the panels will fit over them again.

I did the same thing with my speaker install. Make marks or draw around the existing speakers, and the new ones will fit fine. I ordered 1" spacers from Sounddomain.com, and they worked great!
