Wiring up an On/Off LED?

Ok I had a toggle switch installed that activates my aftermarket fog lights and I was wondering if I could somehow wire in a simple red alarm LED to indicate when the fog's are on/off since mine come on whether or not the headlights are on. Do I just tap the LED'
s pos/neg wires into the switches or what??

after the toggle switch splice the wire and put in a 1k ohm resistor ran in parallel with your fogs, then run put an led in series connected to ground after the resistor

12v----V-----fogs
...........|
...........|---resistor--led--ground

the v is the switch

switch

You could replace the toggle switch with a toggle that lights up, that might be another option you could look at. Im supprised your fog lights did not come with that kind of toggle switch.

just get an LED switch from Radioshack or whatever....it'll be cheaper and easier than wiring in an LED

Nah, just one that has a ground, a postive feed, and an accessory thing. Its just a 3 pronged switch with an LED on it. shouldnt cost more than $5
