I went through the same thing, I have a 2003 Civic EX and the way to get into the factory dash is slightly different...if you try pulling like they say, you are gonna just break the trim around your lighter plug. What you have to do is start around your shifter. I have an automatic so I dont know if its different with a manual. Anyway, the trim around the shifter pops off pretty easy...so again, start there. Anyway, you work your way around there and you'll notice the side trim that goes all the way up to that lighter plug is attached right at the sides with a single screw on each side of the shifter. Take those out then that side trim has a few snaps that go out towards your doors (ie pull toward the door). I believe there are 2 on each side, the seat may get in the way but try anyway. then after those are free, there are only 2 more bits of plastic holding the lower section in, you slide the piece in the direction towards your trunk and lift a little. That entire section/lower panel will come out. From there its the same as the other directions being that there are 2 screws that you have to take out, etc. If you missed the link for the DIY its http://www.7thgencivic.com/modules.p...howpage&pid=50 I hope this helps...it was a pain I know, I had two sets of directions and both were wrong...I finally decided to just start taking things apart when I figured it out.

Did you figure out how to get the door panels off, or are they the same as the Crutchfield directions? I just got an 03 and the handle assembly (houses the power window LX coupe that I could take off pretty easy, but the 03 seems different.
