Alternative Amp Wiring for Sedan?
Alternative Amp Wiring for Sedan?
I did a search, but I did not find a reference to the thread I was looking for.
I seem to remember someone posting that he/she had actually run the amp power wire along the route that is normally used for installing the OEM fog lights: the wire is routed from the battery through the passenger-side fenderwell and into the passenger compartment via a grommet near the front passenger door. (I am using the OEM foglight installation instructions from handaacessories.com as a reference)
The reason I was considering this method is that I'm a bit concerned about using the "wiring harness boot" in the firewall; I'm a little worried that the hole in the boot might tear and widen over time, letting dirt and water into the wiring.
Thoughts?

I ran my power for my amps and the power wire for the neons under my seats through that grommet and just electrical taped the *bleep* out of it on the inside and in the engine bay. When I rewired my system that was the first thing i did because I didn't like my power wire running across the engine bay all the way to the driver's side.
Well, just an FYI for anyone who may be interested:
I finally did my amp/sub install yesterday, and the alternate power wire routing worked out beautifully. There is a "lip" of sorts in the wheel-well that the power wire fits into nicely.
There are actually two plastic grommets that lead into the passenger compartment via the glovebox. I reused the the grommet closest to the cabin (instead of discarding it as the instructions say) by cutting a hole in it and running the power wire through it -- worked great!

Just FYI ... these same two grommets/holes are also available on the driver's side inner fender, closer to the battery
They are located right above the hood release cable. One of them is used by a wiring harness (on the 2003 Civic Hybrid), but the one closer to the cabin is empty = available for power wire route into the cabin
