Anti-theft ID Card????

I'm wondering if it is possible to get a stereo (cd or tape player) to work again if you do not have the anti-theft ID card? I bought a civic in 2000 and no longer have it but still have the stock cd player! I recently bought a 2001 civic and have a stock tape player and just haven't searched for the ID card. Actually I don't even know if the tape players need a code like the cd players do!! Just wondering because I'd like to sell both of the headunits but if no one else can use them then there is no point in selling them......if anyone knows help me out.

I searched this forum and came up with nada......

Probably call honda service and give them your VIN. Actually, now that I think about it, you would probably have to take it there so they know that it's your car. I'm sure they keep that information somewhere or have a way to reset the code. You can't be the only one that has lost their code card.

Definatly call the dealership, they can look it up for you. I have done it many times with customer cars.
