Home-made turbo r18

Hey I have 06 civic ex (r18) and a 14b dsm turbo and I am getting the intercooer bov and all that good stuff. My friend is helping me install it. He said I could just use rubber hoses for the intercooler piping and Im just gunna run 8-10 psi with the stock manifold. I am going to take the stock downpipe off and and put the turbo onto the output hole since its a single hole. Does this sound like a good idea? Any reccomendations to help me not blow up my engine.

omgosh no! you have to get a turbo manifold bro, turbo isnt something you can do cheaply, you need a turbo manifold and a downpipe from a turbo company, or one thatll bolt to the turbo.

hello i dont mean to hop on your post but can anyone please help me!!!
ok i have a d16y7 i just rebuilt with high compression internals..
i just recently dropped the engine in and and it was all plug and play
for the most part but here i am ready to fire and it starts purs like a
kitten then after 2 minutes it runs hot instantly .. and temp switch new!!
motor take 2 mins to get to normal temp. after 2 mins it goes from normal
to hot fast.. ok i have new water pump,thermostat.. FANS R COMING ON! and i noticed the top rad hose gets hot while the bottom stay cold.. and even some of the intake metal hoses get hot fast i havent let this engine over heat at all dont worry better safe than sorry
stumped at this problem ..
PLEASE HELP

well turbo is a big deal, if your car doesn't come with turbo, then its best to get all the parts for a turbo..my buddy blew up his is300 cuz his turbo wasnt tuned andd cuz he's a dummy

first of all that was very rude man, thats called "thread jacking" if it doesnt pertain to his question please make your own post. common courtesy.

2nd i agree with what the guy said about getting EVERYTHING correct for turbo. you can just rig something together and expect it to work. understand that there are oil feed lines to and from the turbo too, where do you plan on hooking those? you dont wanna ruin your DD becuase you attempted a turbo and it blew up while you were 30 miles down the road from your house.

first off ur cheapest and honestly best bet is to look on ebay for a cast iron turbo manifold. then find a charge piping kit for ur car. then find a friend that knows something about turbo application cars to help u disassemble the front end of ur car to put everything together. DONT RUN ON BOOST WITHOUT A PROPER TUNE!!!! whats simple is to disconnect a piece of charge piping so u basically have no boost running to ur intake manifold. then u jus simply hook the last peice of charge piping up when u get on the dyno rollers and tune and go. do it right the first time or ur gonna have to built a motor, then try and do it right the second time.

Going turbo isn't something simple, easy or inexpensive.

At the minimum you should expect to spend 3k+ and Hondata is virtually a necessity on late model engines, you also need time spend time on a dyno to have the motor properly tuned like S2kkk89 mentioned.

If you build a cheap, half-assed turbo set-up for your engine then you'll soon have experience swapping motors, because yours will quickly be destroyed. Ebay kits count as a half-assed set-up.
