Body Kits

Hey guys, I'm new here, and wanted your help. I have heard many rumors about body kits. I would like to buy one, but first I wanted to hear your thoughts on them and if you have one, is there anything you would have done differently? Is there any manufacturing problems that you have ran into? Who installed it? Does it fit properly? Any new kits on the market? Any info you guys would like to share, I'm all ears!
Thanks,

Tommy

The 3M tape that was used on my kit started to come off and had to be redone. I hope it holds for the winter.

the main problem as stated above is gonna be the tape that holds on lip kits like the wings west. cold weather will make them be less able to stay on, and if you get full bumper kits your car'll act like a snowplow

Throw out the tape that comes with the kit. It is usually to old to hold and see a local body shop and buy some new tape. It will be a world of difference.
Go with trusted names when you buy a kit.
Make sure when it is painted (especially polyurethane) that you put extra "flex" additive to the paint. This will accomidate for body kit flex if it gets bumped and less chance of separating from the polyurethane.

Mine was put on in winter and that night it went down to -41 C. The only problem I had wasn't with the tape but the side skirts twisting when they got cold. They would get caught on the doors. So ... we shave them down a bit and no problems since.

True, I hear ya, I just really want the thing to fit awesome. If only an aftermarket supplier would realize that all we want is great fit, good material, and good styling. Something to differentiate my ride from that of the guy next to me.

aftermarket almost never fits perfectly. if it does it'll cost you an arm and a leg. i just put on my tsunami front octane side and kaminari lip back. all poly. it fits pretty good except for the leftside side skirt. i found out it wasn't true octane so that might be why it kinda fits funny. the guy at the shop said i might need to grind down the side cuz it's too thick under the door so i might do that later on if i have problems. other then that, it fits pretty good. anyone wondering, i got my kit from www.aerotrends.com. came in about 2 weeks and they gave me a pretty good deal imo for a full ploy mixed kit.

George, find your style of what you want to do. Take a look at what others have done and make your choice.
