Questions about Dynomax and Magnaflow catbacks...

I am interested in getting either a magnaflow or dynomax - however I've been reading numerous posts that say that the magnaflow scrapes like a beeyatch.

I've also been to dynomax's website, and I don't see anything listed for our 2001 civic's. Is there anything available - and if so, does anyone have one?? How low is it, does it scrape??

Info please!

i have magnaflow exhaust and it only scrapes if your car is lowered. my car is lowered like 2.5 - 3 inches and it scraped only on bumps and steep hills. i just got the pipes welded on together. If you get bigger rims it won't scrape.

So you say just weld the joints together instead of clamping them together? I plan on getting Tein basic when they come out - and lower about 1.5 inches. So its quite moderate, but man, that would really suck to have it rattle like a ****.

I also have the progress front and rear sway bars - and right now the rear rattles on the exhaust. I wonder how much clearance there will be with the magnaflow.....

Only thing that scrapes is the clamps. Clamp it on sidways and you are all set.

Yes, weld it. the magnaflow hangs really bad. it almost scrapes with out lowering the car if you don't get it fixed. The shop did it for free when I had a high flow cat welded in. but either way it's cheap well worth it.

Does the cat back for the LX attach to the long extension pipe, or the actual down pipe for the cat? Reason I'm asking is because I'd like to get a high flow cat for an EX installed (random tech) after I do the turbo kit (not for quite sometime). Thanks for all of the info so far guys...

I scraped without lowering, but it was just the clamps, i had a local performance shop weld it up for me and it was perfect

I have a custom madrel bent midpipe that is 2.25" and
a magnaflow exhaust with a $15.00 chrome tip.

I'm rolling on 17"s with a 1.25 drop in front and 1.75 drop in
the rear

Everything is welded and I don't scrape at all.

$210.00 for the whole job to be done

I don't fully understand your question very well but this might help. It's the manual that came with my magnaflow cat-back.

The question I have is essentially this: Is the kit from magnaflow trim specific (ie LX, DX, EX), or is it universal?

I.E. Does it come with the intermediate pipe (for direct bolt up to EX) AND the LX downpipe? If so I can install it now, and just take out the LX downpipe when I want to convert to an EX exhaust.....

Mine came with everything needed to be installed on an EX or an LX. Everything in that picture was provided in mine. The package would definitely come with an intermediate pipe b/c that is needed in both LX and EX configurations. Don't quote me...I'm not sure if all cat-back packages are the same.
Anyone else get a magnaflow cat-back that included all parts for both the Ex and the Lx?
