Still no luck...

Hey guys...

Well, I appreciate some of you helping me out with my problem regarding my wiring harness getting toasted. I contacted hondaautoparts.com and the guy told me it's not worth getting a whole new harness over. Since I basically just need one stinkin' piece of plastic and a bit of extra wire, spending $150 on a new harness doesn't make sense.

I'm gonna search more for local after-market stores, but I really dunno how successful I'll be. If any of you have any solutions or know of any good civic after-market shops, please let me know asap!

Here's another idea one of my friends had...which is kind of devious but part of me doesn't really care considering how much dealerships love to rip you off. He proposed that I bring my car to another local honda dealership and claim that my lights are just malfunctioning without mentioning a thing about the whole xenon melting fiasco thing etc. Since my harness technically was fried 10,000 miles ago (last september) but only started not working a couple days ago, the incident at my normal dealership would long be forgotten.

The report WAS issued on my record. I just got a printout of my car's history and it vaguely mentions me bringing in my car to get the low beams fixed. But I'm not sure if another dealership has access to those records or may call up my normal dealership to see what the deal was with my car's history. My question is, basically, could I get away with something like this or would I be better off just searching for the part at after-market shops till I die? My main concern is getting caught trying to pull a fast one on the dealership and they refuse to work with me at all. Let me know what you think.

Well I took a 30 minute drive out to a honda/acura junk yard and came away from there with the part I finally needed! I was quite relieved since newer honda parts (especially as specific as my problem was) are hard to come by. Hopefully I can help you guys in the future should you have the same problem I did. Check out their website sometime. I think they ship across the country too.

http://www.acurahondaparts.com/

They're located about an hour north of downtown Atlanta. Haven't tested the part yet, but hopefully all will go well.

Oh, yeah...and the part cost me a whopping $15. Much better than paying $150+ for a new harness and ridiculously better than paying $1,000 for the honda dealership to replace the whole enchilada.
