Brushed Aluminum
I tried primer - it didn't stick, at least the kind I used. So I just used paint on bare plastic (I had to redo the entire HU which pissed me off) and it looked great.
3 coats paint
2 coats clear-coat
it looks hella sweet and has a light shine to it. Kinda like it's been armor-alled, but without the armor all. It does scratch off easily though, so I guess until I find a more permanent solution, I'll have to be careful
I like that blue interior a lot - I used silver and I've gotten mad props from everyone who's seen it since I did it like 3 days ago

I used 2 coats of primer then 3 of paint because I wanted to retain the non-gloss finish like the existing silver trim pieces already in the car. Plus it's a pain in the **** when the sun reflects off the stereo face... no imagine getting that from the entire trim piece.
Spray Technique: Use as little as possible. Using a spray can you can't control the flow through the nozzle like in a pro-paint shop so you've got to compensate yourself.
1. Keep the can as far away from the trim pieces as you can while still getting coverage... aprox. 10" away.
2. I never once held the nozzle open for more than half of a second at a time. (to eliminate chance of runs)
3. If the nozzle is open you'd better be moving that can... and fast. Just be smooth, not jerky.
4. I used a sweeping motion. Swing your hand past the piece on both sides and just tap the nozzle as you pass the trim piece.
5. If you don't get everything the first time, LEAVE IT ALONE until it dries. There's always time for more coats.
6. When it looks good, STOP SPRAYING.
It's inevitable... I think, "It looks good but if I sprayed this section one more time it may look better..." Then after I do it, I realize I just ****ed it up. hahaha
does anyone use 400 grit sand paper before they paint? and will that affect the texture look or how well the paint holds? or should it be fine without sanding as long as your using the plasti-coat paint?

I did not use plasti-cote paint either... I just used Duplicolor because I had a hard time tracking plasti-cote down.
Skeet - I have not tried scratching my painted pieces with my nail, but I did rub fairly hard with my thumb. Nothing happened, so I figure there is a pretty good bond. hahaha, what are you planning on hitting your dash with that you need to worry about scratching it with your nails?
do you have a pic of your interior Jackseric, i tried searching for your ride but couldn't find one, and hassoomi, did you sand before you painted, or is that what your going to paint your interior, not what it looks like currently?

.....................................and i'm lazy
Awesome. Thanks for the help everyone. Probably do this next week. Anyone need any detailed photos along the way let me know and i can take some pictures.
I am still worrying about the paint scratching off because the trim piece i tried it on scratches off and im not sure if a clearcoat, glossy finish is what I want. I'm also paranoid cause Honda emailed me back saying the replacement is 70bucks canadian and i have no credit card to order parts online... anywho, i guess protection is better so im going to look for some clearcoat. any suggestions on time per clearcoat spray and again, is it a detailed coat like the silver spray?
