Gude does do a stock regrind for our car. From what I have heard their stuff really is low quality, they prolly do think our car is 1.6.

I am damn sure no one makes a cam for our car. Personally I would turn to Crower for a regrinded cam. They'll do it right.

4340 steel billet connecting rods are available for your application. Stock sample and 50% deposit required. Cost is $177 per rod.

Custom pistons, pins, rings and locks run $155 per cylinder. You spec bore, compression valve sizes, etc...

Regrinds on your stock cams are available. Specs are typically 10 degrees more duration and .010 more lift. HP gains are in the 5-15 range depending on tuning. Rough idle is common if we exceed the above figures. Cost is $200 per cam. New cams will be available in about 3-4 months.

Thanks for your interest in Crower,

I've heard the Gude cams work GREAT from racing shops. Talk to anyone here:

(they are not dealers for Gude)
I'm gonna get a set of these cams in a couple of weeks

i believe Black99Vtec has a bunch of Gude stuff (maybe others, as well). It's possible the shop that did the install messed it up. I've heard stories of cams being incorrectly installed that have caused motors to run bad. I remember reading a story on this site of someone who got the head package & traded in his civic in the end, as it ran bad. I wonder if he knew the guy that did the work? I pay for my work to be done (if i can't use a DIY) from someone i trust, just so stuff like that will not happen. We'll be doing a visual inspection before the install & a dyno to ensure correct installation. I don't mind using my civic as a test mule. If the motor gets messed up, i'll just get an RX- 8

Regrinds are not great, but if you get the hardfacing option you won't be limited.

from the crower site:
Hardfacing - Welding up stock lobes (if VTEC, mid only) to allow unlimited spec while maintaining stock base circle. Cost $40 per lobe plus $100 per cam for the grinding. VTEC weld is only on mid lobe (8 lobes + grinding = $520 total). You supply stock cores. VTEC specs listed above are available on hardfaced cores. Full drag race, road race, turbo or nitrous. No wear or compatibility issues.

The only question I have is the cam solution treated to get the proper hardness.

I don't know if the problem the guy had with the Gude head and cam package was ever resolved. As I remember there were problems with using the stock valve springs, etc. There seemed to be much miscommuications with Gude. Id didn't sound like the kind of deal one would want to go through. It certainly wasn't a bolt it up and go situation.
