Short Ram Intake

Do you get a cool sound with the short ram intake compared the regular cold air intake?

Yeah, but some tech folks say that since short ram is drawing air from the hottest part of the car (engine compartment) it defeats the purpose. Save some more and buy a CAI!

your still drawing more air than stock...so you'll still get a gain.

with a cold air you'll get a more hp gain, cause its nearer to the fender, but then there's the risk of suckin up water into the engine ..... not a good thing

I have a AEM short ram intake and it sounds awesome. A SRI will be louder than a CAI.

FIPK makes a good compromise as it is a SRI with a heat shield for the filter.

The CAI will produce more gains in the higher RPM range and if you worried about water get the bypassvalve. The CAI has a great sound to it even when you turn off your car, it lets out a nice little sound. Well worth it (AEM is my prefrence

keep in mind to that some cars (ex coupe auto) may only be able to have the SRI- I am really happy with mine, people I know have the CAI but hey, the SRI does sound good.

I was thinkin of getting K&N's FIPK II for my '02 EX.. but I don't want it to be TOO much louder than stock.. just 'better'

Anybody know if there's any vids or sound clips with 7th gen's with SRIs on them so I can hear the diff?

FIPK is not as loud as AEM. You don't hear much till it hits a little over 3500 RPM. More muted.

bro get the injen short ram intake! much better than aem when it comes to sound in my book. also with the sri you do not have to worry about water. they are not always avoidable no matter how hard you try.

completely disagree with that. i just sold my Injen SRI for an AEM SRI. in terms of sound, if thats important to you, the AEM system is louder. Just gives off a nice hiss/suck sound. in terms of performance I would say theyre fairly equal. the AEM system has an extra small bend, where the Injen system is more or less a straight pipe. another thing to consider between the two is how they come off the throttle body. i had a regular straight tenzo strut bar with my Injen system, but it wouldnt fit with the AEM because the AEM intake comes higher off the throttle body, so i got the neuspeed strut. hope this helps

This is whats great about the FIPK. If you want to just chill, its not all loud and annoying. But if you want to get on it, at about 3500 (like bartkat says) it starts growlin. If you asked anyone on this site if they enjoy their FIPK, they will say they love it. I do. Some other members such as bartkat, slystad810, kjgracing, and can attest to liking it.
