Thumbs up Osram Sylvania SilverStars

I've tried a lot of different bulbs on my cars over the past several years, trying to improve the lighting. Anyway, I've tried Hella, PIAA, Philips, Eurolite, Sylvania, Narva, Eaglelite, etc etc... more or less, they were all the same.

Recently I bought a pair of Philips Premium bulbs (rated at +30% more light) for a 95 Cavalier, and noticed some minor improvements. I noticed in Europe, they had non-DOT +50% lightbulbs. They had two types available, Philips PlusVision and Sylvania SilverStar. I decided to give the SilverStars a try because they were cheaper.

To my delight, they have GREATLY improvement the lighting!! From my experience, I have to say that the +50% gain claim outside of the box is totally legitiment. Unlike many "55W=100W" claims, this stuff actually works. But they will not give you any blue hues... or even white light. From afar, they do look SLIGHTLY whiter, but only because the light itself is more intense. In fact, the bulb itself is totally clear.

I have projectors headlamps, and I couldn't bare the light output. It was dim as hell, and made me regret upgrading to projectors. But these bulbs actually made them worth awhile.

I like my Silverstars too. Whiter than stock, slightly brighter than stock, and all w/o that blueish/purpleish color.

I had Philips VisionPlus before. They were noticeably brighter but not +50%. I'd say 10-20% more like.

They were clear too. The light color was 'whiter' than stock but nowhere near HID or HID-wannabe.

I was quite happy with them, but they burnt out in six months. I would have gotten them again if it wasn't for the fact that they are unavailable in North America.

I replaced them with Sylvania Cool Blue which are respectably whiter, but not nearly as good in the light output.
