The guage cluster doesn't record the mileage; the ECU does. You can swap in that guage cluster and your mileage will stay the same.[hr]

Is it really in the cluster? If it is then that's a stupid design. It should be in the part of the car that is least likely to break. AKA the ECU. I swear I need to try this with a friend when working on Indiglo's. That'll settle it once and for all.

i have a dx and have done this before, and you will lose your current mileages. miles are store in the ecu but the cluster has it own memory, whatever miles are drove in the cluster it will be saved on the cluster, yea this is kinda a stupid desgin but what i did was that, the cluster had about 12k on it and my current mileage was about 10k so i wanted till i reached about 12k, then did the swap but i didnt get it that accurate it about like a couples miles off like 3 or 5
