- I have a Apex muffler with universal piping, and its pretty loud, and sounds pretty ricey I've heard that axle-back exhausts, like the HKS and the HP J-Spec, will give you a slightly deeper sounds and its not too loud. Plus they just bolt on.

I have the Tanabe R Spec. It's been dynoed to show the greatest gains for our car. It's a nice low sound. It comes with a silencer if you want it to be more quiet. But I love the rumble of it.

My exhaust sound clips:

Tanabe R Spec exhaust from the side

Tanabe R Spec exhaust from the center rear

Tanabe R Spec exhaust flyby

dc sports tcs system (cat-back, i dunno if they have an axle back or not) is nice and deep and not ricey sounding at all. it isnt super loud either so it wont drown out your music or the passenger next you trying to tell you something.

If you "just want to make [the] car's exhause sound a little racy but not too loud..." I would go with an axel back. I think that a cat back would make it to loud .
