Thinking about getting HKS Exhaust
Ok so Ive been looking up all the different exhaust for our cars and I think Im going to go with HKS, but Im still not sure. I really like the Greddy but its expensive and I dont want a really loud exhaust. Than I thought about magnaflow and the price is good and it also sounds good. The problem is that some people say that if you lower your car than youre going to run into some problems. DC Sports might be a good idea also but I dont want to spend a lot of money for the DC Sports. Really havent heard that much from Tanabe , if anyone has any input on that Ill appreciate it. Which one do you guys think I should get. Does anyone have the HKS if so please tell me how you like it.

HKS isn't going to be any cheaper then greddy or DC sports, if you want a cheep exhaust your going to have get a magnaflow. if you wan't a quality exhaust your going to have to spend 450 or more.

MOZART!! I was getting the HKS but I got the Mozart instead. Man I love it, it makes the car to me. I didn't lose any tourque, my gains weren't crazy but it definately helped, I get into third a little harder now, when it's wet I rip third I didn't do that before. I noticed mid range improvements. Between 2500-2800 the exhaust is extra quiet so it's very driveable if you want it to be. I have a 02 EX 5spd coupe, no fitment problems. It came in one day at 3:30. I changed, jacked up the car, took out the old rear section, put in the new one. My friend and I were test driving it at 4. Great mod! Decent quality too, I was impressed. The sound is killer. I'll have a good clip when the weather gets better too. Good luck man!

Yeah, the Tanabe is definately best if you want gains, listen to reddragon. For looks/money savings, the mozart is a greta deal, plus the sound is great. hks has the higher quality

Get rid of the resonator and get some custom madrel bent 2.25" piping. Don't go any bigger unless
your car has a turbo. You will lose out on H.P. gains if you get anything bigger
Skunk 2 is too loud for me. Is the tanabe exhaust loud? Does anyone have any sound clips fo the tanabe or any other exhaust
The Apexi N1 looks like a good option too. I'm just afraid its gonna be too loud cuz the Apexi are usually loud especially the N1.
RedDragon333,
When you say that the Tanabe is the best for HP and Torque, I'm assuming you are referring to approx. 4500 rpm and above! That system will not help anything below that point. Reason being is that the piping is too large to maintain low-end torque.
For true performance gains only, Tanabe is not appropriate for our anemic 1.7L SOHC engines. In a huge test conducted on 20-30 leading exhaust systems, HKS was head to head with APEXi N1 at the top whereas Tanabe Racing Medallion was substantially less effective.
I've had both systems and can guarantee that while the Tanabe Racing Medallion sounds better than any other exhaust system on the market and it's super light weight, the HKS axle-back exhaust will provide better performance gains on a 7th Gen Civic.

3rdCivic, Do you have the dyno test with all the exhaust, GREDDY,DC,HKS,etc... I would really appreciate it if you did, trying to get full cat back, either Greddy or DC
Thanks

Thank you for everyone's opinion, but I think Im going to go with the HKS. Im probably not going to get it until spring time so I still have more time to do some research. Thanx guys
Curt,
I'm sorry but I do not have the dyno in my possession. It was from one of the tuner magazines (maybe "Turbo"). Anyway, I have had experience with 3 different exhaust systems for our 7th Gen Civic's.
First system purchased: DC Sports TCS (after trying 3 of them, finally gave up and sold it. Never fit good and rattled underneath my shifter)
Second system purchased: Greddy EVO (had it on for 1-2 weeks. heavy as a ***** and also made some strange rattling noises underneath my car. tip did not tuck into the bumper cutout at all. sounded good though.)
Third system purchased/currently installed: HKS Hiper axle-back (easy to install. sounds like a genuine, high quality, powerful Japanese exhaust system. construction is top notch. fits perfect. maintains low-end grunt yet allows for better flow at higher speeds (i.e. freeway).
Conclusion: One can buy an exhaust system for 2 reasons: (1) Performance, or (2) Sound. Granted, our cars are not racing machines by any means but if I can have both minimal performance and a quality exhaust note, I'm happy. I feel this is what I've achieved by installing the HKS Hiper.

I'm currently planning on buying the HKS hiper. How does it sound cruising on the freeway? Ist it Mind numbingly loud? Like headache material? I want something fairly chill until I romp on it.
