TYC Projector Question from your Official PW!!!

Hey ya'll. I just ordered a set of black TYC Projectors. I have actually found the SEARCH button and looked around on the site reading over 25 different threads about projectors. My questions still have not been answered.

1. Do the TYC Projectors only use H1? or will H3 & H4 fit also. I want to know because one of my headlights is burned out and I don't want to order H4's if I need H1's for the new lights.

2. If only H1's fit, do they come with the Projectors?

3. I count 3 lights on the stock headlights (headlight, parking light, & turn signal). But I count 4 lights on the Projectors(Hi beam, Low beam, parking light, & turn signal). My question is how do I convert the lights from 3 to 4? Is there a plug-in kit that comes with lights?

4. I know that TYC is great quality but do the Projectors need to be resealed before installation?

5. What H.I.D. Kit works best on the Projectors.

Thanks ya'll. I promise I already searched and could not find any of this explained.

HID forget it. Can't do it.
The TYC come with H1 bulbs (best ones, they won't burn out as quickly as the others), and also come with the wires for the long and regular beam. As for the H3 bulbs I don't think they will work but not really sure.
The light come with everything you need though for instalation. The only thing I had to do was adjust them cuz I could only see like 3 feet infrontl of the car when driving. So before you put the bumper on adjust them.

I would suggest taking them apart and reasealing them form scratch. That would be the best thing to do.

The TYCs come with H1s for the projector low beam, and you should aim them before you put them on the car (mine were horribly misaligned when I got them) I don't see why you couldn't upgrade them to an H1 HID bulb.... I know someone on this site actually did do that, but I think they needed to modify something in order the get the bulb to fit right. As far as going from 3 to 4 bulbs, there's a plug that the stock H4 bulb plugs into that splits the wires out for the high and low beams (if you look on it there's 3 prongs, one ground and a power lead for both hi and low beam). I didn't have a problem with mine leaking, but it never hurts to reseal them yourself. Good luck with them, I'd recommend that if you aren't going to get a HID kit with it, to get a brighter bulb... the ones that come with it don't put out a whole bunch of light.

I heard the HID get so hot that it may burn or melt the projector piece. I didn't try it but who ever postsed that probably found that out the hard way.

Yeah, I'm pretty pleased with mine, though they really don't put out much light with normal bulbs. Get some Xenon Hiper whites ..

Also, one of my high-beam lenses has been knocked in so it's horribly mis-aligned. Anyone know if there's an easy way to fix that, ie wihout taking the entire assembly apart?

Thanks ..

Are there directions with how to re-align the headlights? It is like a **** or something?

Are PIAA's the best? I like my lights with a light blue hue on them.

Yeah you can realine them. To move them left right you can use screw that is easy to get to between the long bean and regular beam. But to move them up or down you have to take the bumper off, cuz the screw is in a terrible place. I couldn't find an easy way to get to them other then taking of the bumper.

I had Xenon lights and they blew 2X
Now I am thinking about the piaa's?

i've had my TYC projectors since like may or something and i drive my car every single day around 100 miles to and from work, in all kinds of MD weather, and they've never leaked or had any problems at all, i love em. only thing is, since i put EuroLite Xenon bulbs in the passenger side one has blown 2 times in like 1 month or two, which kinda is a pain but thats just the fact that the projectors usually get hotter even though i have the same wattage bulbs...whatever

You retro fit a *GOOD* projector into the TYC housing. Like from Audi, or BMW...

I'm selling Audi Projectors if you are interested.

as for h1 hid's in tyc, here is a pic. hid's don't burn as hot as halogen bulbs or fake hid bulbs, so no need to worry about blowing your projectors. beam pattern is not the greatest since the prjectors are not real ds2 projectors, but it is way better than stock headlight housing with h4 hid's.

1. it uses H1s, i never used anything else but H1
2. it comes with the projector, along with all the other bulbs
3. the headlights came with the wires already in place, all you have to do is plug the h4 bulb socket into the new spliced plug
4. i had 2 sets, both leaked under extream weather conditions
5. from what i understand, H1 D2S works best
